Voice of the Child Report : A space where your child’s perspective truly matters
The Voice of the Child Report presents the child’s views, wishes, preferences, and concerns in the context of separation. It is completed at the request of the parents or the Court, always with the child’s consent and comfort at the centre. Its purpose is simple: to help parents better understand what their child wishes to share, so they can make decisions that are more child‑focused.
Why request it? Clarity, understanding, and a calmer path forward.
• Reduce conflict and misunderstandings
• Support a more stable parenting plan
• Keep the focus on the child’s experience
• Prevent the child from having to speak directly to the judge
The practitioner meets the child in a safe, respectful environment and shares only what the child agrees to share.
What a VOC is not
• Not an assessment, investigation, or interrogation
• Not intrusive or interpretive
• No opinions or recommendations
It does not compare parents, does not evaluate parenting capacity, and does not offer recommendations. It reflects only the child’s voice, sometimes with neutral observations.
